Dancing The Night Away
By Lenore Castaldo www.exclusivelydance.com
My daughter was getting married. She already had an apartment and so did her fiance, so there wasn't a need for a bridal shower and the thought of a "Bachelorette Party" didn't quite sound like us. Instead, the bridal party and I took her to the Rainbow Room in New York City for an elegant evening of dining and dancing. We needed someone to dance with, so I asked a friend, who is a professional dancer, to have some of his friends join us. We danced for hours until our feet gave up and we all learned some new dance moves for the wedding. The evening was a smash.
Then came the wedding. The maids thought it would be a great idea to have some professional dancers at the wedding as well. There are ALWAYS people in attendance that want to dance. J'Lo's Let's Get Loud is a Cha-Cha, In The Mood is Swing, Moonlight Serenade is a Foxtrot --- and we are all tired of doing "The Circle Dance." So we called in some professionals. Four gentlemen and two ladies were seated amoung the guests as if they themselves were guests at the wedding. Throughout the evening they would circulate the entire room and ask everyone to dance. And, as in the old days, each guest was escorted from his/her table to the dance floor, and escorted back to the table. Another smash. Everyone was dancing and learing at the same time. The guests loved the concept, and no one ever realized that we had these "ringers" in place until much later into the festivities.
