Laura and James were seniors in college when had their first date on December 31, 2005. They met as students at Fordham University and shortly after their New Year’s Eve date they officially became a couple. About four years later, Laura and James were spending the day together, and after a romantic dinner they found themselves under the Brooklyn Bridge. James then asked Laura to marry him and she couldn’t have been more thrilled. “I thought it would be an unforgettable moment and perfect complement to starting our life together in Brooklyn,” James reminisced.

The couple set the date for February 19, 2011 and immediately began planning their classic-modern celebration. “We wanted timeless with a twist of today,” said Laura, who chose dark grays, black, deep purples, and magenta as the color scheme for their winter wedding. When it came time to choose a reception location, family members recommended Colony Hall. According to the bride, she and James wanted somewhere truly unique that was fit for a big party; Colony Hall was just what they were looking for. “It was the perfect space to accommodate our tastes and vision,” she commented.

The morning of the wedding began early for Laura and her bridesmaids, who had a lot of prepping to do before the 3:00 PM ceremony. Matt from Cozmo’s Hair Salon and Design Studio and Jeanine from Jeanine Mangan Makeup Designs arrived at Laura’s parents’ house at 6:30 AM to get the girls ready for the big day. “Jeanine is truly an artist. I have never felt more beautiful, thanks to her. The makeup lasted the whole wedding without a worry,” noted the bride. Once everyone was ready, First Class Limousine Service took Laura, her parents, and the bridal party to The Shrine Church of St. Bernadette, James’ family’s parish. Laura wore an off-white strapless trumpet-fit LaSposa gown with ruching and an A-line train with a hair comb from her mother-in-law and a plain floor-length veil. James waited at the altar in a wool tuxedo with a classic black bow tie.

Following the ceremony, the newlyweds and their wedding party braved the cold February winds for photos taken by John Arcara Photography, who also filmed the wedding. “John and his team are pros. Their ability to be everywhere and capture everything in the most beautiful way will never cease to amaze me. These are photos we will cherish forever,” Laura commented. After pictures everyone gathered at Colony Hall for an extravagant cocktail hour, which featured some of the couple’s favorite foods. In addition to numerous passed hors d’oeuvres, guests also enjoyed a baja taco bar, a raw bar, and snacks like truffle oil popcorn and pretzel bites at the bar and cocktail tables. The entree was a modern take on traditional surf and turf: a beef tenderloin and crab cake combination served with cheddar potato gratin and corn pudding. “We got rave reviews on the food for months after the wedding! It was truly gourmet,” said the bride. Mother Mousse designed the couple’s wedding cake, which was white with cascading black, gray and purple dots. The white chocolate raspberry-filled vanilla and chocolate cake was served for dessert with espresso drinks, cordials, and trays of cookies.

Michael and Anthony from Eclipse Entertainment worked with the groom to create a playlist that kept guests up and on the dance floor. The couple agreed that they were incredibly impressed by the team from Eclipse, who was flexible and accommodating. Laura and James’ first dance, “When I Saw You” by The Ronettes, was followed by traditional parent dances, with Laura and her father’s dance ending in their favorite dancing pastime, “The Twist.” After their big day, the newlyweds escaped to Antigua for their honeymoon. Laura and James felt their wedding was exactly how they envisioned it and wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. They are looking forward to starting their life together as a married couple.

Although their families had been good friends for over two decades, it wasn’t until August of 2007 that Vanessa and Kris met while at a family dinner. They defied the odds of a long distance relationship and three years from their initial meeting, Kris proposed. “I knew Kris was planning something special when he surprised me with a trip to Disney World,” mentioned Vanessa. They immediately began planning their August 14, 2011 wedding. Guests were invited to Vanessa and Kris’ celebration with ivory invitations embellished with a translucent overlay and ivory bow. Fat Cat Paperie designed the additional stationary including ceremony programs, menu cards, signature drink cards, and table name cards, all of which were written in an elegant script font to coordinate with the invitations.

Located in the couple’s hometown, the ceremony was held at their families’ parish, Most Holy Trinity Church. Vanessa walked down the aisle wearing a lace Maggie Sottero gown with intricate detailing and chapel-length train. She held ivory roses, stephanotis, and touches of greenery with pearls strung throughout the bouquet. Kris sported a beige tuxedo with an ivory vest and tie, while his groomsmen wore beige tuxedos with cream vests and ties to coordinate with the bridesmaids’ turquoise chiffon dresses.

When Vanessa and Kris visited Vineyard Caterers, they were immediately impressed with their incredible outdoor views and landscaping, along with the professionalism from the staff. Bill, the manager of Vineyard Caterers and John, their maitre d’ invited them into the facility like family and the couple agreed the staff was professional and courteous. “They went above and beyond our expectations,” commented the bride. For dinner, guests had a choice of Chateaubriand, panko crusted stuffed breast of chicken, Shrimp Wellington, or Farfalle. Vanessa added, “The food and wine selections at the reception were from local farms and wineries.” Their three-tiered wedding cake from Create-a-Cake included a white intricate design with fresh flowers and three butterflies, symbolizing the couple and good fortune.

Tony and Thomas from ADA Studios captured each sentimental moment perfectly which helped to make Vanessa and Kris’ wedding truly unforgettable. They liked ADA’s quality of work, efficiency, and their photography styles combining both photojournalism and traditional portraits. “ADA captured stunning photos of us together at the beach, vineyards, gazebo, and pond,” said Kris. Following Vanessa and Kris’ first dance to “Mille Lune Mille Onde” by Andrea Bocelli, guests danced the night away to a wide range of music from classic rock to current dance hits. Absolute Entertainment, along with Charles Notturno Band, was upbeat and played genres that appealed to all of their guests. While the emcee, Kevin did a great job with mash-ups and smooth transitions, Charles, George, and Robert entertained with live music. At the end of the reception, Vanessa and Kris escaped to Disney World, Florida for their honeymoon where they stayed at the Beach Club Resort for ten days.

Leslie had just moved to New Jersey from the Philippines when a girlfriend introduced her to Randy. Leslie recalls, “We definitely liked each other right away but obviously there were some cultural differences.” The two dated for six years before Randy popped the question. Leslie was getting ready to go out to dinner one Saturday night in October when Randy came into the bedroom and got down on his knees, pulling the jewelry box from his pocket. Leslie recalls, “I was in tears when I said Yes.”

Chosen for its grand ballroom and beautiful outdoor grounds, the ceremony and reception were held at Seasons Catering. Rabbi Geri Zeller performed the solemn ceremony, which included Jewish traditions of Kiddush cups, blessed wine vessels, and a Ketubah, a traditional Jewish marriage agreement. Also included was the veil and cord ceremony, a Filipino tradition. Leslie wore an ivory, satin strapless gown by Priscilla of Boston from Jaehee Bridal Atelier with Swarovski crystals on the bodice and chapel-length veil. She carried a bouquet of stephanotis in various shades of pink and ivory with crystal embellishments. The groom wore a classic tuxedo with an ivory shirt, vest, and tie from Men’s Wearhouse. Randy’s groomsmen wore the same tuxedo with white shirts and charcoal vests and ties, while Leslie’s bridesmaids wore pink Bari Jay dresses.

Every moment of the ceremony and reception was captured in a photojournalistic style by John of John Agnello Photography. The bride commented, “John always knew what to say to get a smile or laugh out of us.” The bride and groom were equally as impressed with their videographer, Alex, from Unique Video Productions. Leslie and Randy surprised their guests with a choreographed first dance to “All My Life” by Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville. The couple incorporated rumba and fox trot into their dance, giving their guests a real treat. For the rest of the night, Mike Albanese from Gemini Productions kept guests on the dance floor. Leslie recalled, “Our disc jockey also did a photo montage of pictures of Randy and I growing up and took pictures of our guests that showed on the Plasma televisions all night long.”

The cocktail hour featured a lavish seafood display including lobsters, succulent shrimp, oysters and scallops. Fresh pastrami sandwiches, steak, sliders, sushi, pizza, and a spectacular cheese display were also available to nibble on. For their main entree guests had the choice of Chateaubriand, a Norwegian salmon tower, or French cut chicken. The bride raved, “The food was unbelievably good. Seasons Catering does a truly remarkable job.” The Viennese display featured freshly-made crepes, cotton candy, milkshakes, and chocolate fountains. The vanilla and chocolate wedding cake was a four tier, ivory masterpiece with pink detailing created by Le Petit Gateau.

After the wedding, the newlyweds honeymooned in Oahu and Maui, Hawaii and enjoyed being surrounded by the breathtaking scenery. Leslie and Randy advise, “If you are planning to have both the ceremony and the reception in one place, make sure that you pick a reputable place like Seasons.”

The Venetian • Garfield, NJ

High School sweethearts Krystle and Daniel dated for over eight years and while family and friends knew the couple would eventually get married, Daniel really wanted to make the proposal a surprise. A few weeks before March 6, 2010 Daniel asked Krystle to attend his work party with him, but knowing she had work that day Krystle had to decline the invitation. “I went to sleep really upset knowing that I wouldn’t be able to go,” shared Krystle. “I went out on a limb and called Krystle’s boss, told her my plans, and requested to give her off. I even asked her to call Krystle the morning of so she wouldn’t suspect anything,” added Daniel. The two ventured to Central Park, New York City and as they made their way around the lake Krystle stopped to get a better close-up picture of the fountain across the way. As she turned around to call Daniel over, he was already down on one knee asking Krystle to marry him. They celebrated with a bottle of champagne at The Boathouse and toasted to their engagement.

Watching Krystle walk down the aisle at Saint Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church was Daniel’s favorite memory of their wedding day. Donning a Pnina Tornai mermaid-style gown embellished with Swarovski crystals, a cathedral length veil, and Christian Louboutin shoes, Krystle was escorted down the aisle by her father. “She looked absolutely beautiful and her smile in that moment was something I will remember the rest of my life,” shared the groom. During the full mass ceremony, the two exchanged vows and included Filipino traditions- the veil and cord ceremonies, which represents unity and a lifelong bond between the couple. Following a lovely ceremony, the newlyweds along with their parents and grandparents, released six white doves- symbolizing love, faithfulness, joy, and hope.

Chosen for its attentive staff, reputation for its world-class service, and grand architecture, the reception was held at The Venetian. “The level of service and number of people they have supporting you throughout the process is unparalleled,” noted Daniel. “We attended a wedding at The Venetian in 2008. Since then there have been renovations and additions made throughout the facility and after visiting, it was a no brainer,” added Krystle. During the extravagant cocktail hour guests were offered a variety of food including a sushi station with a sake dispenser, roasted pig and rack of lamb carving station, hot and cold seafood fare, and a fromage and wine station. Signature drinks of grape and apple martinis were also available, in addition to a vodka station, and full bars. For dinner, guests had a choice of petit filet, herb roasted chicken, or potato crusted Chilean sea bass. “The food was fresh and if you wanted your food or drinks a specific way the staff did it without questions,” Daniel commented.

Mirage Band entertained guests with live music from the beginning of the reception until the last dance of the evening. They played a diverse selection of music including 60s, 80s, and 90s to country, hip hop, and house. Krystle and Daniel also requested polka dancing to honor Daniel’s Ukranian heritage. For their first dance as newlyweds, the couple held the spotlight to “Then” by Brad Paisley. They also participated in the traditional parent dances and danced with their siblings to “I Hope You Dance” by Leann Womack.

Dessert included a grand Viennese hour where guests indulged in sweet treats of Haagen Dazs ice cream bars, fruit sushi, freshly made waffles and crepes, in addition to their wedding cake designed by Palermo’s Custom Cakes and Bakery.

From the bride and groom prep throughout the ceremony and reception, McKay Imaging captured the special moments flawlessly in photography. Krystle loved Robert and Elisabeth’s attention to detail, artistic style of candid images, as well as their nonintrusive approach. Krystle and Daniel are equally pleased with their videographer, Rob Adams Films. Following the wedding of their dreams, Krystle and Daniel escaped to Cancun, Mexico for their honeymoon, where they stayed at Le Blanc Spa Resort.

Real Weddings, Gabelli Studio, NJ Weddings, NJ Reception Facility, Wedding Photography

After Elizabeth and Dominick’s first date over Carvel milkshakes in July 2003, the two had an instant connection and didn’t take long for Elizabeth to realize Dominick was the one. “He always made me feel comfortable when I was with him. Just by looking into Dominick’s eyes, I could tell he had a heart of gold.” About six years later the two planned a trip to Lake George, New York to celebrate Dominick’s birthday. She took him out for his favorite dinner and while enjoying a walk following their meal, Dominick got down on one knee and proposed. The wedding date was set for October 2, 2011. “We wanted a date with special significance so in choosing October, we were able to have beautiful fall weather. We would also be getting married in the same month as my grandparents, who were married for 58 years. It just felt right,” Elizabeth noted.

Real Weddings, Gabelli Studio, NJ Weddings, NJ Reception Facility, Wedding Photography

The wedding day began early for the bride and her bridesmaids who were pampered at her parent’s house. Elizabeth’s hair was styled in long loose curls while her makeup was applied flawlessly by Melissa D’Aloia. Once they were ready to leave, Elizabeth’s neighbors, family, and friends, gave her a beautiful send off as they left for St. Lucy’s Church. The bride walked down the aisle in an ivory Alencon lace Monique Lhuillier gown with a sweetheart neckline, fit to flare silhouette and ivory satin sash. Handmade by her mother, the mantilla veils not only complemented her gown beautifully, but were described by Elizabeth as “an extremely sentimental” part of her wedding day attire. Dominick sported a black one button Calvin Klein tuxedo with an ivory vest and tie. His groomsmen wore the same tuxedo with gray vests and ties, which coordinated with the bridesmaid’s charcoal gray dresses.

When the couple visited The Brownstone, they were warmly greeted by Denise, one of their banquet managers. “When we walked into the facility, my mind was made up before we even talked business,” noted Dominick. Additionally, the couple was impressed with the beautiful decor, menu options, and The Brownstone’s overall reputation. Raspberry mojito’s, the couple’s signature drink of choice, were available during cocktail hour, in addition to a variety of food including crab cakes, cheeseburger sliders, braised short ribs, and broccoli rabe won tons. For dinner, guests had a choice of chicken marsala, salmon with spinach in a mustard glaze, or prime rib. “The food was fresh, tasty, and exactly how we envisioned. Each dish represented something about us or our journey as a couple,” Elizabeth added. Guests indulged in a chocolate fountain, Italian pastries, cookies, bananas foster, and a four-tiered wedding cake for dessert. The bride also surprised Dominick with a red velvet New York Yankees inspired groom’s cake.

Throughout the ceremony and reception, Gabelli Studio captured special moments in photography and on video. They liked John’s photojournalistic approach and his passion for his career, while they were pleased with how Teddy and Freddy blended in throughout the day. Following their big day, the newlyweds escaped to Italy for two weeks, where they visited Venice, Florence, Rome, and Sorrento.

Marisa and Michael attended school together and although Michael always had a crush on Marisa, the two didn’t start dating until their senior year of high school. After they graduated college, their relationship became more serious and Marisa soon realized Michael was “the one”. “Things just kept getting better with each passing year and I knew there was no one else out there for me. We fit each other perfectly and I couldn’t imagine my life without him,” she mentioned. Michael began planning the proposal about two months in advance and really wanted to surprise Marisa. On April 9, 2010 he took her out to dinner and during their meal, Michael’s younger sister called asking for a ride home from a nearby beachfront hotel where her friend had been staying. Following dinner, they headed to Ocean Place and when they walked into the hotel room, Marisa was surprised to see an incredible display of candles, rose petals, and pictures. As their song played in the background, Michael got down on one knee and proposed. The wedding date was set for October 28, 2011.

Marisa walked down the aisle at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church in a diamond white Maggie Sottero gown with sweetheart neckline, ruched bodice, embellished with lace and beading. A crystal tiara and veil with beaded edging completed her wedding day attire. Watching his bride walk down the aisle was Michael’s favorite memory of the day. He commented, “I was so nervous up until that point, but seeing her calmed me down completely.”

While the newlyweds and bridal party took their formal photographs at Pier Village with the help of John and Lauren of Timeless Studio, guests headed to Ariana’s Grand for the reception. When Marisa and Michael visited Ariana’s Grand for the first time, they were pleased with what the facility had to offer including the large dance floor, granite countertop bars, and outdoor patio with fireplace. Additionally, they liked how Ariana’s Grand holds only one event at a time.

Guests enjoyed a wide selection of food during cocktail hour from hors’ d’oeuvres to various stations consisting of a raw bar and cold antipasto display. A main entree choice of chicken champagne, pesto salmon, or roasted prime rib was offered to guests for dinner. Marisa and Michael both agreed the food was excellent and they received many compliments from their guests. In between dancing and socializing, guests enjoyed a chocolate fountain, assorted cakes, Italian pastries, cookies, and ice cream bar, along with their three-tiered wedding cake for dessert. “The staff at Ariana’s Grand was incredible. Everyone was attentive and made sure our guests were accommodated,” Michael said.

Following their first dance as husband and wife to “This I Promise You” by N’Sync, Kevin and Sal from Platinum Entertainment got the party started. They played a variety of music throughout the evening and provided projection screens and percussionist for a live entertainment feel.

At the end of the reception, Marisa and Michael escaped to St. Lucia for their honeymoon where they stayed at Sandals Grande St. Lucian Spa and Beach Resort and Ladera.
