"The place you thought you knew"
By Meghan Chalfant

As the old saying goes, “As one door closes, another one opens” and what better way to begin your journey as newlyweds than on a honeymoon in paradise? Escape on a romantic getaway where turquoise blue water and white sandy beaches stretch on forever. If you’re looking for serenity, adventure, and romance, then travel to Cancun, where you’ll create memories that will last long after you say, “I do.”
About Cancun
Situated north of Cozumel along the northeast coast of Quintana Roo and Gulf of Mexico, lies the beautiful locale of Cancun, Mexico. While this destination is widely known for spring breakers, it’s also a popular destination for honeymooners and travelers. With its natural landscape, endless adventures, and romantic ambiance, it’s no wonder why more than three million visitors return annually. The tropical climate in Cancun offers year round sunshine with temperatures between 68 and 86 degrees from October through March and 75 to 91 degrees from April to September.
Home to over 200,000 inhabitants, many residents speak Spanish, the official language; however, most people in the tourism industry are multilingual and speak English, as well as French, Italian, and German.

With a variety of specialty restaurants located on the resorts grounds, your palate is sure to be satisfied. At Oriental Lounge, enjoy Asian hors d’oeuvres and a sushi bar or fulfill your cravings throughout the day at the Pool Snack Bar.

Things to Do
From relaxation to adventure and shopping to nightlife, there are many things to explore while honeymooning in Mexico. With its ancient structures and extraordinary views of the Caribbean, Tulum (meaning “wall”) is one of the most visited and famous archaeological sites, located 82 miles south of Cancun on the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula.
About 117 miles west of Cancun, discover the Mayan culture and pyramids at Chichen Itza, located in the peninsula of Yucatan. Named as one of the Seven Wonders of the World and a UNESCO Heritage Site for over 20 years, this is the second most visited archeological site in Mexico.

If you’re an adventure seeker, driving through the jungle in an open top jeep, free-fall bungee jumping, or zip-lining may be the perfect tours for you. The turquoise blue water gives way to breathtaking sea life of vivid colored fish and corals- perfect for scuba diving or snorkeling. Other activities you might want to consider are fishing, sailing, swimming with dolphins, or visiting Xel-Ha― the largest natural aquarium made up of a series of inlet and lagoon systems.
From designer and famous brand stores to flea markets and souvenir shops selling Mexican local handcrafts, shopping in Cancun is sure to be extensive and an enjoyable day out. The nightlife in Cancun is also an all time favorite with a variety of restaurants, discos, bars, and nightclubs. At Coco Bongo, watch entertainers bring the stage to life as acrobats perform choreographed numbers and impersonators pay tributes to pop stars such as Madonna, Michael Jackson, and Britney Spears. Let loose at Senor Frogs “where anything can happen”. This casual restaurant bar features nightly entertainment including contests, prizes, conga lines, a reggae band, and more.

Back at Sun Palace unwind at the spa with individual or couple’s therapies offering a blend of Mayan, Oriental, or European techniques for the ultimate pampering experience. Relax at one of three infinity pools with swim up bars and signature submerged lounge chaises and bask under the Caribbean sun with private beach access.
