Comment : Dear Daraius,I live in Switzerland, but travel a mimnium of 6-7 times per year to the USA (almost all for business, occasionally personal), and with other inter-European travel as well. I travel exclusively with Swiss or Lufthansa, or occasionally another Star Alliance member. In Europe my wife and I use personal AMEX or VISA that puts miles directly into our Miles&More Accounts. Currently, we have just over 1 million miles in Miles&More. However, for all my business trips I currently use AMEX Executive gold, and for many personal purchases in the USA I use AMEX platinum. Both of these cards give me points in Membership Rewards, where I have at present 570,000 points. I do not see the value to maintain Membership Rewards points, as they do not have Lufthansa or Swiss as airline partners. In fact, I do not even know what to do with all these points, as the exchange of points to pay an AMEX bill is not particularly good. And I have no interest in making online purchases with points. So I was thinking about one of two possible options: (1) Getting 2 Chase United VISA cards, 1 business and 1 personal, since the points can be used for Star Alliance members such as Lufthansa and Swiss. If this makes sense, which Chase card would work best for me? I see 3 cards, Chase United Mileage Plus Explorer, Chase Sapphire Preferred, and Chase Mileage Plus Club Card. Or, better perhaps is option (2): Change my AMEX cards, business and professional, to Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Cards from AMEX (business and professional). I have a Starwood Gold Preferred Guest Account, although with only 37,000 points remaining. In this way I could build up my SPG Account to use for hotels and/or Star Alliance miles. And I could transfer all my Membership Rewards points into Starwood when I close the Platinum and Gold AMEX accounts. I hope this is not too confusing, and thanks for your assistance. Richard

Comment : Just wanted to let evnoryee know that I would love to be back in the military. I was an E-3 and an Engineer Apprentice. Any branch that would have me would be OK. I have a 2B re-entry code on my 214, and so far no recruiter will work with me. I did a lot of stupid things during my 20 months of service in the AF. (being late for formation several times, left some contractors unsupervised when I went to the mess hall for dinner and I got in a fight with my roommate.) I was 19 yrs old, an only child and had a serious case of what my mother calls “growing pains”. Now, the jobs are catch as catch can and trying to get employers to be supportive of my educational pursuits (1 class per semester) is a major undertaking. Oh, yeah the VA told me that I’m not eligible for any benefits because I served less than 24 mths. I believe the character of service discharge is really what’s preventing me from getting a government job too. I’m regretting my lack of maturity then and now. I’m living with my retired parents and I need to get out of here.

Comment : BillDecember 18, 2012 at 5:14 pm Laura, as individuals I know many enmteonvrntalisis are sincere, but I've also seen phony front groups sponsored with Park Foundation money (among others) to the tune of millions of dollars in hiring 'pro bono' lawyers to 'advise' town boards, transport 'grass roots' people all over the country, fund biased 'documentary' pieces such as 'Gasland' and more. They've sponsored bogus (and discredited) research which is fed into these groups, and the groups all point at each other's quoting of these discredited 'facts'. One small example - Some of the loudest critics of drilling in Dimock PA were Craig and Julie Sautner from Carter Road. I'm sure you've seen or heard of them; they were everywhere last year with their jug of brown water, claiming their property values were destroyed because their well was contaminated. Well, they sold their house in Dimock for a profit, and bought a new house in Berkshire NY (Tioga County) with - a gas lease. http://pdjniscdd.com qbenmrpgtde [link=http://triylug.com]triylug[/link]

Comment : - You usually have to wait 18+ mhtnos from when you were last approved to get the personal Citi AA cards again otherwise you get denied for already having the card. You may be able to get the Delta sign-on bonus 12 mhtnos after cancelling and with the United card you may be able to get the bonus for different versions of the card. Chase Ultimate Rewards points can be transferred to United, American Express Membership Rewards points can be transferred to Delta, and American Express Starwood points can be transferred to American Airlines.@Randy Martin It was great meeting you too and thanks for attending FTU!
