About Jamaica

Each year over one million visitors travel to Jamaica to experience the island’s unparalleled beauty and endless adventures. Jamaica, the largest English-speaking island in the Caribbean, is located ninety miles south of Cuba and six hundred miles from Miami. From beautiful, pristine beaches and lush rainforests to rich culture and history, Jamaica boasts natural and serene settings, making this destination home to some of the most beautiful surroundings. With hundreds of springs and rivers throughout Jamaica, it’s no wonder the first Jamaicans (called Tainos) named the country “Xamayca,” meaning “land of wood and water.” Jamaica has developed water treatments over the years, making all of the water pure and safe for consumption.
Boasting year-round tropical sunshine, Jamaica’s climate sees relatively humid conditions and high temperatures of an average of eighty degrees. Short rainstorms provide refreshing showers during afternoon heat throughout the island’s two rainy seasons, while hurricanes sometimes pass over the island primarily between the months of June to September. Although the official language of Jamaica is English, you might hear the natives using patois dialect.

Where to Stay

Situated on the beautiful stretch of white-sanded beach lining turquoise water is the ClubHotel Riu Negril (about forty-eight miles from Sangster International Airport). Featuring 420 deluxe guest rooms, this resort offers accommodations to fit every guest’s wants and needs. Mini-bars, liquor dispensers, and electronic in-room safes are among some of the amenities that are available to guests within their double rooms or suite accommodations― all of which give way to balcony or terrace views.
All guests staying at ClubHotel Riu Negril will enjoy the all-inclusive experience, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and daily snacks at a choice of four restaurants. Dine at the casual buffet offering on-the-spot cooking stations, hot and cold buffet, as well as special themed buffets twice a week. You also have the option to make daily reservations at Sir Andrew for gourmet à la carte, or enjoy Brazilian fare at Rodizio and Italian cuisine at Luigi. During the day stop by the poolside restaurant cooking up grilled favorites for a midday snack or visit the poolside and swim-up bars mixing up your favorite cocktails. Throughout your stay, unlimited juices, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages are also included in your trip.

Things to Do

From relaxation to recreational activities to daily entertainment and nightlife, Jamaica offers a variety of adventures to explore. See the rain forest from new heights while zip-lining, cool off at the Kool Runnings water park attraction, or swim with the dolphins― just a few of the attractions for thrill seekers.
Back at ClubHotel Riu Negril, participate in activities from volleyball and tennis to a variety of water sports, including sailing, windsurfing, and snorkeling. Various entertainment programs are available at the resort for all guests to enjoy throughout the day and evening, including live shows and music, as well as complimentary entrance to the Pacha nightclub for those who want to dance the night away. Times Square Shopping Mall is located minutes away from the resort, as well as Margaritaville Negril, offering a beachside oasis with food, entertainment, and fun.

Tying the Knot

For the couple seeking to tie the knot in paradise, Weddings by Riu offers civil, religious, and vow-renewal packages. Imagine exchanging heartfelt vows amid picture-perfect settings, with crystal-clear water or lush gardens creating a beautiful backdrop for a ceremony site. Pronounce your love and tie the knot in a gazebo or under an arch on the beach in Negril, and enjoy the music of a local reggae band for an additional fee.
Plan your celebration with your choice of wedding options, including a complimentary package when booking a minimum of five rooms for a three-night stay. Additional upgraded services, including the Classic, Royal, and Caprice packages, are available at an additional cost, offering guests everything from simple and elegant to extravagant and complete wedding options. The best way to start your lives together is with the Classic Wedding Package, designed for just the couple. Looking for the perfect balance between simplicity and extravagance? The Royal Wedding Package includes cake and sparkling wine for up to fifteen guests. The most luxurious option, the Caprice Wedding Package, is meant to pamper the wedding couple in a tropical paradise, including cake and sparkling wine for up to forty guests.
If you’re planning a destination wedding in 2013, Weddings by Riu packages will remain the same with the exception of their Royal Wedding Package, which will include cake, sparkling wine, and dinner for up to twenty guests. They will also be offering a Free Wedding Package at Riu Negril and Riu Palace Tropical Bay when five rooms at the same Riu Hotel are booked (minimum three-night stay), which includes cake, sparkling wine, and dinner for up to ten guests.
